Which Superhero Shares Your MBTI Personality?

Have you ever heard of the MBTI? That stands for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator—one of the most famous personality assessments in the world. Sometimes, it’s called the 16 Types Assessment due to the 16 different possible results.

The MBTI is one of many assessments offered by the Career Planning and Development Center, and best of all, it’s completely free! By completing one of these assessments, you can discover:

  • What careers may be the best fit for you
  • How you fit into the team dynamic
  • Your strengths and areas of improvement
  • Insight into who you are as an individual

The goal of the MBTI isn’t to fit you into a box, but rather to pinpoint your specific preferences and how they connect with the world around you.

A Quick Crash Course on MBTI Preferences

The MBTI evaluates you on four different dichotomies, giving you a percentage of preference for each. You receive a letter representing each of the four dichotomies you score strongest in:

  • Introversion (I) vs. Extroversion (E): Do you prefer to spend more time in your head or to focus on the people around you? Does being around others quickly exhaust you or energize you?
  • Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N): Do you focus more on the concrete, real, measurable world or on the abstract world of possibilities and ideas? Do facts or theories interest you more?
  • Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F): When making a decision, is it more important to you that your decision is consistent, accurate, and based on guidelines? Or do you focus on unique circumstances, building harmony, and considering the emotions involved in your choices?
  • Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P): Do you prefer to be in control of your time and space, watching the clock and planning your day? Or do you take the day as it comes, being flexible and open to possibilities?

In other words, if you score highest in Introversion, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging, that would make you an ISFJ, for example.

Once you’ve determined which letters you are, you can begin researching your personality type in greater detail. Because theoretically every person fits into one of the 16 MBTI personality types, you can also match yourself with famous people and fictional characters who share your personality. With multiple superhero blockbusters hitting theatres each year, let’s take a look at which ones you might share a personality type with!

Which Superhero Are You Based on Your MBTI?

During a job interview, you may be asked a creative question like, “Which superhero would you be?” Knowing which characters match your personality type can help! Even if you never encounter this question, though, it’s fun, inspiring, and good for your self-image to know which heroes stand in your personality corner!

ENFJ: Wonder Woman

Natural leaders who focus on improving social systems and inspiring others’ lives, ENFJs are responsible idealists at heart. Like Wonder Woman, they are confident, natural encouragers, and concerned for the well-being of those around them.

ENFP: Spider-Man (MCU Version)

Spider-Man has many incarnations, but it’s the Marvel Cinematic Universe version that best captures the ENFP’s sincere enthusiasm and curiosity for all things in life. This sociable personality spends as much time in deep thought about life as they do experiencing it through meaningful connections with others. They’re accepting, free-spirited, and open to possibilities. “Joy” is their buzzword.

ENTJ: Nick Fury (MCU Version)

Known as the commander archetype, the ENTJ is a natural strategist and competent leader with the ability to unify people for a common goal. Just as Nick Fury is able to bring earth’s mightiest heroes together to form the Avengers, this personality uses their rationale, determination, and charisma to get the job done.

ENTP: Iron Man

There’s a reason this type is called the inventor. Playing the devil’s advocate, tinkering with gadgets, and conceptualizing futuristic ideas all come quite naturally to the ENTP. Like Iron Man, this personality has a knack for mastering social and mechanical systems alike. They’re quick thinkers, databases of knowledge, and non-conformists.

ESFJ: Baymax

This health- and wellness-focused, huggable robot is a token ESFJ—responsible and driven by a need to help others and to always do right. This personality finds ultimate meaning through serving others, whether striking up a warm conversation at a party or providing hands-on care. As a natural harmonizer, the ESFJ is loyal, dutiful, and sensitive toward others.

ESFP: Beast Boy

As the life of the party, the ESFP brings a daily dose of random spontaneity to the world around them. Natural entertainers fueled by seemingly endless energy, this personality is passionate, fashion-forward, and socially aware. They’re among the first to lend a listening ear.

ESTJ: Tenya Iida

The Turbo Hero from “My Hero Academia,” Tenya Iida might as well be the ESTJ poster child. He’s grounded on order, organization, and traditional values. This personality believes in hard work, dedication, dignity, respect, and holding people, groups, and communities together.

ESTP: Thor

Leaping headfirst into action comes naturally to the ESTP. These adrenaline-seekers find their fuel in anything that stimulates them, and they pursue it with excitement. As leaders, they’re inspiring and brimming with bold personality and natural social skills. Their keen eye for detail, direct communication style, and originality quickly set them apart from the group.

INFJ: Professor X

One of the rarest personality types, the INFJ wields integrity and idealism while taking purposeful steps to achieve their goals and to change the world for the better. Driven by an overarching mission, this personality easily reads others and holds themselves to high moral standards. They’re creative, insightful, and inspired to make the world a better place.

INFP: Scarlet Witch

A natural daydreamer, the INFP has a flourishing inner imagination and seeks soul-deep relationships with others. Like Scarlet Witch, they are highly sensitive and unique, with a great drive for empathy and a need to set things right.

INTJ: Batman

Batman’s personality differs slightly depending on the installment, but the comic books usually portray him as an INTJ. This type is driven by knowledge, making them active self-learners, intelligent thinkers, and specialists in their areas of expertise. Like Batman, they frequently turn to creation or invention, challenge or take steps to change the status quo, and are strongly independent.

INTP: The Hulk (Comic Book Version)

…or Bruce Banner, to be more precise! When he’s not raging out of control, the scientist is lost in theoretical thought, making brilliant discoveries, and keeping to himself. The INTP’s greatest prides are their intellect and unique perspective. Their brains never shut off, constantly analyzing what interests them.

ISFJ: Superman

Classic Superman—not some of his broodier, more modern interpretations—is a shining example of the ISFJ type. Known as the defender, this personality is driven by a dedication to tradition, a desire to help others, and a duty to do the right thing. They are natural perfectionists, often with the goal of exceeding expectations.

ISFP: Miles Morales (Movie Version)

With a keen focus on aesthetics and creativity, the ISFP can’t be put in a box. Life is one big journey of exploration to this personality type, and they’re often grounded in enjoying the moment. Their unpredictability and open-mindedness are balanced by consistent alone time, spent reflecting on personal principles.

ISTJ: The Wasp (MCU Version)

Practical, logical, and duty-driven, the ISTJ is an efficiency machine. Their ability to focus on tasks until completion makes them dependable. Like the Wasp, they’re responsible and calm, with the ability to quickly pick up details and new skills.

ISTP: Wolverine

One of the most hands-on of all types, ISTPs are naturally curious, mechanically inclined, and level-headed problem solvers who think quickly on their feet. Independent and freedom-seeking, this personality is always calm in a crisis. Their spontaneous nature drives them to find energy in new experiences and through trial-and-error troubleshooting.
