What Should I Do Next?

So your senior year is finally over. You submitted your college applications and completed your FAFSA a few weeks ago. Wait, what comes next? If you feel like you’re stuck, read on! This blog post is designed to clear up any questions that a first-time college student at EFSC might have about navigating the admissions process.

If you meet the application requirements and are offered admission, you’ll receive a formal acceptance letter via mail and/or email. Acceptance letters contain a lot of useful information about how to proceed and typically include your student ID number (known as your B# at EFSC), a list of any outstanding admissions requirements you need to fulfill and instructions on how to activate your student email address and access the online student portal.

Once you’ve read through your acceptance letter, your first step should be to log in to the student portal. At Eastern Florida State College, we use the myEFSC portal. Your acceptance letter will include your login information, so be sure not to misplace it. This video walks you through how to log in to your myEFSC account. After you have logged in, it’s important to become familiar with the layout of your student portal, as well as with the different applications it contains.

Your student portal allows you to complete a variety of different tasks. For example, you can review admissions or financial aid holds, check your student email account, complete your online orientation and access your online courses. It’s especially important to address any admissions and financial aid holds, because some of them can prevent you from being able to register and pay for your classes. These holds, which can be found in your message center, are usually the result of outstanding items that are needed to complete your student account, such as your residency status for tuition purposes, an official high school transcript with a graduation date or your test scores. Learn more about how to submit those additional items.

Once all of your paperwork is in, you should make an appointment with your academic advisor. Academic advisors help you to plan your schedule and can answer any questions you might have about registration, program curriculums and, of course, graduation requirements. Learn how to schedule an appointment with your advisor.

If you’ve made it this far, you can rest easy knowing that you’re in great hands. Pretty soon, the only thing left to do will be to have a great semester, so what you waiting for? Get to it, and go Titans!
