…then never fear—the Career Planning & Development Center (CP&DC) is here!

Located on all four campuses, the CP&DC can help you take your first step in the right direction of your career. Best of all, you can visit the CP&DC throughout every phase of your academic journey, which starts the moment you consider attending EFSC. As a prospective student, you too have access to the Career Center’s services — even before you enroll!

Every service offered at the Career Center is completely free, and many resources are available online, meaning you can access them from the comfort of your favorite beanbag chair.

Assessment Tests: Not sure what to be when you “grow up”? Stuck between two appealing career pathways? Just want a little confirmation that you’re on the right track? The CP&DC offers a variety of assessments that can provide you with insight into your personality, interests, skill sets, values and how these factors combined fit into potential careers.

Career Coaching: How competitive is a job as a CSI? What’s the best major for a would-be author? Where can you try out zookeeping to see if you really like it? A one-on-one discussion with an experienced Career Center Coordinator can provide you with answers to your most pressing questions, as well as connections to hands-on learning opportunities, including internships.

Resume Review: Did you know that your resume only has six seconds to capture an employer’s attention? A resume is much more than an 8½ x 11″ piece of paper — it’s the most powerful piece of self-advertising you possess! Whether you need a resume for a job, internship, scholarship or class assignment, the CP&DC can provide you with up-to-date information on resume trends, formats and hacks. Gain the confidence to write a resume for any occasion.

Interview Assistance: Interviews may seem intimidating, but with the right preparation, you can feel confident answering interview questions like “Why do you want to work at our company?” or “Where do you see yourself in five years?” The CP&DC can help you craft strong answers to tricky questions, provide you with feedback on your interview clothing and even help you rehearse for the big day with innovative simulation software.

Job/Internship Search: Looking for your first job? A job with flexible hours to suit your school schedule? A temporary position over the summer? The CP&DC can connect you with a variety of online and EFSC-exclusive job/internship boards to find the perfect fit for your career goals, major and needs.
